Indiana Police to Announce Update in the 2017 Murders of 2 Girls in Delphi, Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS— Indiana Department of Correction Commissioner Mike Ritenour and Indiana State Police Major John T. McNulty briefed members of the Indiana Senate Judiciary Committee and the Indiana House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations on the murder investigation and public safety in Delphi, Indiana on Wednesday.

Commissioner Ritenour told the Committee the Indiana State Police would now publicly announce a new public safety plan for the area.

The new plan will include allocating funding dedicated solely to public safety in the area until 2018.

The new plan will require the hiring of additional Public Safety Officers in the area.

The announcement will come as the next phase in the investigation into the deaths of 2 girls at the residence in Delphi, Indiana.

The following is a statement by Indiana State Police Major John T. McNulty, director of Public Safety, regarding the announcement of the new plan for public safety in Delphi, Indiana:

“Our department is committed to working cooperatively with the community to assure an enhanced public safety program in the city of Delphi,” said Major McNulty. “We are pleased that the State Legislature, in the form of the 2017 Indiana State House Enrolled Act, has committed to providing this funding for public safety and the hiring of additional personnel.”

The news of the new plan comes as the investigative team continues to work its way through all of the evidence gathered by it.

Indiana State Police will present a new plan for the safety of the public during a hearing to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Tuesday, September 17, 2017.

During the public safety hearing, the Police Department will present the findings of the investigation and the facts behind the murders.
