Uber warns of higher prices and longer wait times following Toronto’s decision to freeze new licences until at least the end of June.
The company says it will work with Toronto’s city council, which is still to vote on the freeze, to find new solutions.
The government of Ontario has asked city staff to find solutions for high Uber fares, which the company says have been caused in part by a shortage of drivers and an increase in demand that has been caused by an increase in ride-hailing demand.
Uber was the subject of a recent court ruling that called on the city to make changes to regulations to ensure the company could continue operating.
