Ontario Provincial Police Provide Support to Residents in Sarnia and Durham Areas of Halton County and Durham Region

Omicron variant of COVID-19 confirmed in Halton and Durham regions cases

Sarnia, Ontario – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Halton Regional Police (HRP) and Durham Regional Police (DRP) are providing support to residents in Sarnia and Durham areas of Halton County and Durham Region.

Sarnia

On March 11, 2020, OPP executed a search warrant on an address on the 500 block of Springbank Street Sarnia. During the search, they located four of the five individuals who had tested positive for coronavirus in Halton County earlier in March. On March 26, two of the four individuals were taken to University Health Network (UHN) for further testing. The fifth person who remains at large is being sought. All are residents of Halton County.

Durham

On March 11, 2020, OPP executed a search warrant on an address on the 100 block of Northfield Drive, Woodbridge, and located four of the five individuals who had tested positive for coronavirus. Two of the four individuals were taken to UHN for further testing. The fifth person who remains at large is being sought. All are residents of Durham Region.

Halton

On March 11, 2020, OPP executed search warrants on an address on the 805 block of Hilderfield Drive in Halton City and located two of the five individuals who had tested positive for coronavirus. On March 15, two of the three individuals – a Halton Regional Police officer and a Halton Fire & Rescue Service member – returned to the Sarnia community. The third individual remains at large. All are residents of Halton County.

“In a very short period of time, our area has experienced an outbreak of COVID-19 in a small number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19,” said Halton Regional Police Chief, Scott Blevins. “We are working closely with OPP and our partners at UHN to help provide the best safety for our residents, friends and families.”
